3 OGWs Detained Under PSA in Shopian for Terror-Linked Activities
by Northlines · NorthlinesShopian, Dec 27: In a major preventive action to safeguard peace and security, Shopian Police have detained three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for their alleged repeated involvement in activities prejudicial to the security of the Union Territory.
According to a police statement, the detention orders were obtained after following due legal process, and the detenues have been lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
The detained individuals have been identified as Owais Ahmad Lone of Sedow, Mashooq Ahmad Shah of Shahlatoo, and Subzar Ahmad Gani of Check Choland, all residents of Shopian district.
Police said the trio was found repeatedly involved in activities detrimental to public order and security. Despite preventive actions and proceedings initiated against them under Sections 170/126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), they allegedly continued to indulge in unlawful activities, posing a serious threat to peace and stability in the district.
Considering their continued involvement, Shopian Police said detention orders were issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian, after completion of all legal formalities. The police reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and security and said firm action would continue against elements inimical to public order, strictly in accordance with the law. (KNC)
