Rajya Sabha Bids Farewell to 59 Members from 20 States, Including 9 Women

New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday bid farewell to 59 members from 20 states, including nine women, as they retired from parliamentary duties. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the retiring members, saying their contributions to parliamentary democracy will always be remembered and their experience remains valuable for the nation.

Speaking during the farewell, PM Modi said that in politics, there is never a full stop, and the retiring members’ work in the House has been immense. He added that such occasions, held every two years, are filled with emotional moments and provide an opportunity to express respect for colleagues moving forward for new purposes.

Referring to Deputy Chairman Harivansh, who is also retiring, PM Modi highlighted his long tenure in the House, noting that he consistently endeavored to gain the confidence of all members while conducting proceedings. (Agencies)
