J&K Police Bust Inter-State LeT Module, Five Arrested; Key Terror Operative Held After 16 Years
by Northlines · NorthlinesSrinagar, Apr 7: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday busted an inter-state module of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), arresting five persons, including a key operative who had been evading capture for 16 years, officials said.
The arrested include Abdullah alias Abu Hureira, a long-wanted terror figure who had established bases outside the Union Territory, and another Pakistani terrorist, Usman alias Khubaib. The operation was carried out jointly with central agencies.
Investigations involved searches at 19 locations across Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Haryana, leading to the recovery of incriminating material and exposure of a deep-rooted network providing logistical and financial support to terrorists.
Among those arrested are three residents of Srinagar—Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, Adil Rashid Bhat and Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama—who were allegedly involved in offering shelter, food and other assistance to militants.
Officials said the probe also revealed that a foreign terrorist managed to travel abroad using forged documents and fake identity with the help of the LeT network operating across states.
The investigation indicates that the terrorists had infiltrated into India around 16 years ago and remained active across multiple districts of the Kashmir Valley, during which they handled and commanded nearly 40 foreign terrorists, most of whom have since been neutralised by security forces.
