Toll Rises to 12 in Red Fort Car Blast; Delhi on High Alert

New Delhi, Nov 11: The death toll from Monday’s powerful blast near the Red Fort climbed to 12 after three more victims succumbed to injuries, police said on Tuesday.

 

The explosion tore through a slow-moving car at a traffic signal near the Red Fort Metro Station, setting several vehicles ablaze and shattering windows in the vicinity. Initially, nine people were reported dead and 20 injured, but the number of casualties has since increased.

 

Delhi Police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosives Act. Multiple raids are underway as security agencies probe the source and nature of the explosive device.

 

Authorities have placed Delhi on high alert, tightening security at key installations including the airport, railway stations, and bus terminals. Officers from various security agencies are continuing forensic examinations at the blast site.
