Kurt Okraku highlights strong support team around CAF President Patrice Motsepe
· GhanaSoccernetGhana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has shed light on the strong sense of unity and trust that has quickly developed among the leadership of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), describing a cohesive working relationship between CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe and his five vice presidents.
Speaking in an interview with Metro Sports, Okraku highlighted Dr Motsepe’s clarity of vision and leadership style, noting that the CAF President was deliberate in selecting his vice presidents to form a dependable and effective support system.
“Dr Motsepe is a very intelligent man. He knows exactly what he wants, and that is why he decided to pick the five of us as his vice presidents. Of the five, I am the second,” Okraku explained.
According to the GFA President, trust has been central to the smooth collaboration within CAF’s top hierarchy, particularly in a sport where collective decision-making and transparency are crucial.
“You need to have the trust of someone, especially in association football, to be brought that close,” he said. “What is most important is that we have the express support of the CAF Executive Committee. They offer us all the support we need, and we respect one another.”
Okraku stressed that mutual respect, loyalty, and a shared commitment to the growth of African football have enabled the leadership group to function effectively in a relatively short period.
“So far, within this short period, we have jelled and offered the support the President needs. In football, that is very important — you need a team that will be honest with you, loyal to you, and fully committed to the interest of the African game,” he added.
Reflecting on their journey since taking office, Okraku expressed confidence in the unity of the group and its capacity to drive CAF’s vision forward.
“From March to April up until now, we have formed a very good unit — the five vice presidents working together to support our President, Dr Patrice Motsepe,” he concluded.
The remarks underscore a renewed sense of stability and collaboration at CAF, as its leadership continues to push reforms and development initiatives aimed at elevating football across the African continent.
