Coronation Street fans 'rumble' donor for Carla Connor - and it's not Rob, Bobby or Ryan
by Olivia Wheeler · PlymouthLiveCoronation Street fans are bracing themselves for more anguish for Carla Connor in the upcoming episodes.
Recent scenes have seen Carla hospitalised and devastated by the news that her kidney damage is severe, necessitating a transplant. In the episode scheduled for Thursday night, 9 January, Ryan Connor, her nephew, insists on donating his kidney to her if he's a match a notion Carla refuses to consider.
Amidst this turmoil, Carla becomes concerned when she realises another nephew, Bobby Crawford, has gone missing. As the story unfolds, it turns out that Bobby has made his way to Highfield Prison to meet with his father and Carla's brother, Rob Donovan, in hopes of convincing him to donate his kidney.
However, soap watchers think Carla could get a kidney from someone else entirely. Taking to social media, viewers wondered whether Mason Radcliffe, who was tragically killed off on Monday night, may have been an organ donor, reports Lancs Live.
One person said: "I wonder if it's possible that Mason was registered as an organ donor? Carla might get his kidney!" to which a different account put: "Was thinking same when Carla said someone have to die to get one", another wrote: "Crossed my mind too", a different fan wrote: "I thought that" while another added: "Was thinking the same!!!"
The recent development is part of a significant knife crime storyline which has seen Coronation Street collaborate with the Ben Kinsella Trust to ensure the narrative's authenticity.
In recent episodes, Mason assisted DS Lisa Swain in her quest to bring his wicked brothers, Matty and Logan, to justice. After Lisa disclosed to Mason that his brothers were behind the incident that claimed the life of her wife Becky, he decided to take action.
Despite gathering evidence against his brothers, they were let go from custody as the proof was not strong enough to detain them. Realising his perilous situation, Mason chose to leave Weatherfield and took up Stu Carpenter's job offer in Germany.
However, in a heartbreaking turn of events, just hours before starting his new life, his brothers located him and fatally stabbed him in distressing scenes.
Coronation Street is on ITV1 at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on ITV X and STV.
