Trump orders release of JFK, RFK, Martin Luther King Jr records as FBI uncovers new files
by Ifreke Inyang · Daily PostUS President Donald Trump has directed national security agencies to release all government records related to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
This comes after the FBI uncovered thousands of previously sealed documents connected to President Kennedy’s assassination in 1963.
Trump had initially allowed partial disclosures during his first term, but has now said all records must be released without redaction.
“I have now determined that the continued redaction and withholding of information from records pertaining to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is not consistent with the public interest and the release of these records is long overdue,” Trump said in an executive order.
“I have determined that the release of all records related to the deaths of Robert Kennedy and King “is also in the public interest.”
The order also said “it is in the national interest to finally release all records related to these assassinations without delay.”
