Sexual Harassment Allegations: Pay your fine – Arewa group tells Natasha

by · Daily Post

The Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly, NEYGA, on Friday asked the suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to comply with the judgment of the Abuja Federal High Court.

It made the call in reaction to an Abuja Federal High Court judgement that held Natasha for contempt.

Justice Binta Nyako had ruled that Natasha acted contrary to her earlier ruling by publishing a satirical apology to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

She fined Natasha N5 million because her satirical apology was a mockery of the gag order.

A few months ago, Natasha had accused Akpabio of sexual harassment after a heated argument over rearrangement of sitting order on the floor of the Senate.

The Senate had suspended Natasha for six months for speaking out and the Senate President instituted legal action against her

The spokesman of NEYGA, Ibrahim Dan-Musa, in a statement asked the suspended lawmaker to adhere to the Court’s judgment, saying that the Senate has disciplinary powers.

In the statement, Dan-Musa said: “The court’s judgment is crystal clear, Senate leadership acted within the law.

“Natasha must stop playing the victim, pay her fine, tender an apology and quit embarrassing Kogi Central with this endless drama.”

NEYGA also accused Natasha of exploiting public sympathy while disregarding the judiciary’s authority.

“This isn’t about Natasha’s ego, it’s about respecting institutions. If she truly cares for her people, she’ll swallow her pride and comply,” he said.
