Rivers: Impeachment proceedings calculated attempt by Wike to remove Fubara – Baba Yusuf
by Matthew Atungwu · Daily PostA political strategist, Baba Yusuf, says the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State are a calculated attempt by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike to remove the governor.
Yusuf made this statement on Friday when he featured in an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST.
He said that impeachment proceedings in Nigeria are always from disagreements, lamenting that it’s a sad reality of the country’s politics.
According to him, for over three years, Fubara has not been allowed to execute his mandate.
“My view is that it’s some game that is played by the political gladiators in Rivers state, particularly Wike’s camp and Fubara’s camp.
“In my opinion, this impeachment proceedings is a calculated attempt to oust Governor Fubara.
“You will agree with me that if everything was tipsy-turvy between Wike and Fubara, we wouldn’t hear this impeachment proceedings.
“I hope this matter comes to an end so that the people of Rivers State and by extension the people of Nigeria will have good governance in Rivers,” he said.
