2027: PDP will produce Nigeria’s president – Makinde

by · Daily Post

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would produce the next president of Nigeria in 2027.

Makinde’s remark comes amid the leadership wrangling within the PDP that has led to the factionalisation of the former ruling party.

Lately, the party’s leadership has been divided between Makinde and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Despite the leadership tussle and court judgments, Wike recently said that there was no faction within the party.

However, Makinde declared that the PDP, under the leadership of his faction, was ready to return to power in 2027.

He spoke while addressing members and stakeholders during the 103rd National Executive Committee meeting of his-backed PDP faction, held on Monday in Abuja.

“We should write it down. This gathering will produce House of Assembly members, will produce House of Representatives members, will produce Senators, will produce Governors, and will produce the next President,” he said.
