Iraq shuts Iran border crossing after drone attack on Saudi Arabia

Iraqi authorities have ordered the temporary closure of the Shalamcheh border crossing with Iran following recent drone attacks on Saudi Arabia, according to security sources.

Two security officials told reporters that the closure was imposed as a precautionary measure amid heightened security concerns following the attacks.

The sources also stated that Iraqi security forces had launched a wide-ranging operation to track down those responsible for the attack on Saudi Arabia.

The Shalamcheh crossing is an important transit point linking Iraq with Iran, and its closure could affect movement between the two countries while security operations are underway.
