Kaduna: Governor Uba Sani appoints new Emir of Kagarko
by John Gabriel · Daily PostKaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Suleiman Sa’ad Abubakar as the new Emir of Kagarko, following the death of the former monarch, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Sadiq Mamman Lagos.
According to the commissioner, the new emir, who until his appointment held the traditional title of San Turakin Kagarko, emerged after what he described as a rigorous selection process by the kingmakers of the Kagarko Emirate Council.
“The appointment followed a rigorous selection process by the kingmakers of the Kagarko Emirate Council, during which a pool of contestants was screened before Suleiman Sa’ad Abubakar was eventually selected,” the statement read.
The government said the stool became vacant following the death of the late second-class Emir of Kagarko, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, who died on January 8, 2026, after spending six years on the throne.
Governor Sani congratulated the new emir on his ascension to the throne of his forefathers and urged him to promote peace and unity across the emirate.
The statement further disclosed that arrangements for the formal installation ceremony and presentation of staff of office to the new emir would be announced in due course.
