Face Kano politics, stop insulting Benue people — Alia’s aide tells Kwankwaso

The Chief Press Secretary to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, Sir Tersoo Kula, has criticised former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso over his remarks about the governor, urging him to focus on Kano politics and respect the mandate of the people of Benue State.

Kula, in a statement issued on Wednesday, described Kwankwaso’s comments as an “unfortunate and unwarranted insult” that did not promote constructive political discourse.

The governor’s aide attributed Kwankwaso’s grievances to the controversy surrounding Peter Obi’s visit to Benue, alleging that the former Kano governor falsely accused Alia of disrupting the visit.

He further alleged that Obi’s visit was deliberately orchestrated by individuals seeking to damage the governor’s reputation.

Kula defended Alia’s electoral mandate, stressing that the governor was elected by the people of Benue State and deserved respect irrespective of political differences.

He advised Kwankwaso to focus on the political challenges facing his party in Kano rather than interfering in Benue’s internal affairs or commenting on the relationship between Alia and Senator George Akume.

According to him, the former Kano governor should concentrate on addressing his party’s performance and political standing in the state.

“Kwankwaso should face Kano politics. He has enough to explain about why his party performed so abysmally in the last by-elections conducted in his state. He must respect the people’s mandate in Benue and offer ideas, not insults,” Kula stated.

The governor’s spokesperson also urged Kwankwaso to refrain from what he described as insults to the sensibilities of Benue people, noting that citizens were capable of assessing their government and determining their political future.
