Free Nnamdi Kanu protest: No lesson learnt – Atiku’s aide on police shooting Sowore, protesters
by Seun Opejobi · Daily PostPaul Ibe, the media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the shooting of Nigerians by the police during the Free Nnamdi Kanu protest.
Ibe said the shooting of Nigerians is an indication that no lesson has been learnt from the EndSARS protest.
Activist politician Omoyele Sowore started the protest to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
During the protest, the police dispersed the demonstrators while shooting teargas canisters.
Reacting, Ibe posted on X: “Dissent and protest are an integral aspect of democracy. As Americans are engaging in the #NoKingsDayOct18th protest, Nigerians are being shot at and tear-gassed at the @YeleSowore #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja.
“Ironically, this is on the 5th anniversary of the #EndSARS #LekkiMassacre. No lessons learnt.
“We’re still travelling the same route of impunity, high-handedness, intolerance of dissent, and massacre of precious human lives.”
