Election underway for FC Barcelona’s presidency as Joan Laporta resigns
by Don Silas · Daily PostThe electoral process is now underway for FC Barcelona presidency and will culminate with the vote on 15 March.
This comes after Joan Laporta resigned as president of Barcelona, but for merely a procedural reason, stepping down to pursue re-election later this year.
Laporta took office in March 2021 after winning 54 percent of the vote.
He steps down after nearly five years in charge in line with club statutes.
However, Vice-President Rafa Yuste will act as president for the next three and a half months.
Former club executive Xavier Vilajoana and economist Marc Ciria are also running for the Barcelona election.
