Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has called on residents of the state and Nigerians at large to embrace unity, patience and sustained support as the country ushers in the 2026 New Year.
He warned that Bauchi state can no longer be used as safe haven for criminals and bandits.
In a New Year message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor expressed gratitude to God for seeing Bauchi State and the nation through the challenges of 2025, describing the transition into 2026 as an act of divine grace.
Governor Mohammed noted that despite prevailing economic, political and social difficulties, the people of Bauchi State remained resilient, steadfast and prayerful.
He commended residents for their patience and perseverance amid economic hardship, assuring them that his administration would continue to provide palliative support while working towards long-term economic solutions.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to fully implementing the outcomes of the recently held Bauchi State Investment and Economic Summit, describing it as a key strategy to accelerate economic growth and social development.
He further assured residents that as his government approaches the end of its second and final tenure, it remains committed to delivering critical infrastructural and social projects across the state.
Governor Mohammed also emphasized consultation, stakeholder engagement and community participation as core principles of his administration, reaffirming the right of citizens to hold leaders accountable and calling for collective responsibility and mutual care.
On security, the governor warned that Bauchi State would not serve as a safe haven for criminal elements, pledging continued support for security agencies, urging residents to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.
As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to intensify, he appealed to political parties, aspirants and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and in line with the Electoral Act, warning that the government would apply the law against any actions capable of disrupting public peace.
The governor called for sustained prayers and cooperation from traditional rulers, religious leaders, stakeholders and politicians across party lines to ensure lasting peace, unity and prosperity in Bauchi State and Nigeria.
He concluded by wishing the people of Bauchi State and Nigerians a happy and prosperous 2026.
