Troops rescue two abducted victims in Zamfara
by John Gabriel · Daily PostTroops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued two persons abducted by terrorists along the Anka–Gadan Manya Road in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The victims were rescued after troops responded swiftly to an attack on two persons travelling on a motorcycle on September 4, 2026.
According to military authorities, the troops were conducting a routine patrol in the area when they sighted armed terrorists attacking the two travellers.
The troops immediately mobilised towards the scene, forcing the terrorists to flee into the surrounding terrain and abandon their victims.

The two abducted persons were subsequently secured by the troops without further harm.
Following the incident, security forces intensified patrols and other operations across the area to restrict the movement of terrorists and other criminal elements.
The military said the increased presence was also aimed at strengthening security along major routes and protecting residents and road users from further attacks and abductions.
It said the sustained patrols form part of ongoing efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist activities, protect communities and restore freedom of movement across affected areas of Zamfara State.
