Tragedy struck early this morning, 13 May, in Teluk Intan when a lorry carrying stones collided with a truck transporting 18 officers from the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) Unit 5, killing nine of them

According to Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin, the FRU officers were returning to their base in Sungai Senam, Ipoh after completing their duties at the Chitrapournami celebration in Hilir Perak.

Initial investigations suggest that the stone-laden lorry may have experienced a steering failure before crashing head-on into the FRU truck on Jalan Chikus–Sungai Lampam, reported Harian Metro.
