Gardaí launch murder investigation into fatal stabbing of Willie Moorehouse in Bray

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING THE fatal stabbing of a man in Bray have launched a murder investigation.

Willie Moorehouse (38) was attacked on Boghall Road near a playground in the Co Wicklow town, later dying from injuries he sustained.

A post-mortem examination was carried out by the State Pathologist, Dr Sally Anne Collis, on Tuesday and preliminary results have now been provided to the investigating team. Details of these are not being released for operational purposes.

Following the post-mortem, gardaí have now commenced a murder investigation.

Six people were arrested in connection with the incident. Four men – aged in their 20s, 30s and 40s – have since been released without charge.

Two other males – a juvenile and one in his 20s – remain in Garda custody.

An examination of the scene by the Garda Technical Bureau has now been completed.

A senior investigating officer (SIO) is leading the investigation from the incident room at Bray Garda Station, and a family liaison officer (FLO) is providing support for the family.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact them.

They are seeking any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings, from those who were in the vicinity of a playground off Boghall Road, Bray at the time of the incident.

Gardaí said that investigations are ongoing.
