Don’t waste your vote on Congress, says Arvind Kejriwal

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday led a no-holds-barred attack against the Congress, urging Delhi residents not to “waste” their votes on the grand old party.

“Some people here are thinking about voting for Congress. Why would you waste your vote? Congress won’t win. It will only cut votes. The Congress and the BJP have struck a deal. They are fighting together to defeat AAP,” he said, addressing a rally in north Delhi’s Timarpur on Wednesday.

Mr. Kejriwal added, “Never vote to defeat someone. Vote to help someone win.”

The former Chief Minister reached out to members of the Congress, saying he is still a political novice despite having spent 12 years in the field.

“You can ask me to fix electricity, improve water supply, build roads, construct schools, and develop hospitals. I can do all this. But I don’t know how to engage in abuses, dirty politics, and political manoeuvrings. I am not here to fight for AAP. I am here for the progress of your families, to help secure the future of your children,” he said.

Mr. Kejriwal promised that if AAP wins the election, it will fix broken roads and address complaints of contaminated water and overflowing sewers within a month.
