Construction of new Shankar Vilas ROB to begin soon, road encroachments to be cleared in Guntur

Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu on Wednesday (January 22) directed officials to clear road encroachments and undertake immediate road repairs in Arundelpet and Brodipet.
Mr. Srinivasulu, along with town planning and engineering officials, inspected areas such as Arundelpet 1st Line, Brodipet 1st and 4th Lines and the route from Lodge Center towards Brodipet via Kankaragunta. During the visit, he issued instructions to address potential traffic challenges that may arise during the ROB’s construction by removing encroachments and completing road repairs on a war footing.
He underlined that roads in key areas like Donka Road, Brodipet and Arundelpet have become congested due to encroachments and unauthorised ramps extending onto the streets. He directed the town planning officials to take immediate action to clear these obstructions. Engineering teams were also instructed to be ready for road repairs immediately after the encroachments are removed.
Additionally, he reviewed the sanitation work in the area and instructed health officials to identify and penalise commercial establishments and vendors disposing of waste on roads and drains. Ward secretariat staff and inspectors were directed to ensure timely waste removal to maintain cleanliness.
