Six Maoists killed in encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur

by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduSix Maoists were killed in an encounter with security personnel in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh on Friday (July 18, 2025), police said.
Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) P. Sundarraj said that the gunfight happened in the forest of Abujhmad region when joint teams of security forces were out on an anti-Maoist operation in the area following inputs about the presence of cadres.
Operation underway
“Multiple exchanges of fire between the security forces and Maoists occurred since the afternoon. So far, the bodies of six Maoists have been recovered from the encounter site along with AK-47 rifle, Self Loading Life (SLR) rifle, other weapons, explosive material and daily use items,” Mr. Sundarraj said..
Even as the police had not called off the latest encounter, 221 Maoists have been killed in separate encounters in Chhattisgarh so far this year. Of them, 204 were eliminated in the Bastar division which has seven districts including Narayanpur.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hailed the security forces for the operation.
“In the major operation of security forces against Naxalites in Abujhmad of Narayanpur district, news of neutralization of 6 Naxalites is being received so far.I congratulate all the brave soldiers of the security forces involved in this operation and salute their indomitable courage.Our resolve of ‘Naxal Mukt Chhattisgarh’ has become even stronger due to the valor of the soldiers,” he stated.
“Under the leadership of the “successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and the guidance of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji, we are moving forward firmly to achieve the resolution of making the country completely Naxal-free by 31 March 2026”, the Chief Minister added.
