The resignation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Goshamahal constituency in Telangana, T. Raja Singh, was accepted by the party’s national leadership. A letter addressed to Mr. Raja Singh by the national general secretary Arun Singh on July 11, 2025, said that the resignation has been accepted with immediate effect. However, interestingly, the social media of the Telangana BJP deleted a post related to it.

Mr. Raja Singh sent his resignation on June 30, protesting against the way the party elected its new State president, N. Ramachander Rao. Mr. Singh claimed he was not allowed to submit his nomination for the election of the BJP State president.

The letter from Arun Singh said the issues raised by Mr. Raja Singh in his resignation letter were irrelevant and did not match the functioning, ideology and principles of the party. “As per the directions of the National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, I do convey that your resignation has been accepted with immediate effect,” the letter said.

Mr. Singh was disappointed with the high command’s choice to appoint loyalist, former MLC and a senior advocate Mr. Rao as the State president and felt sidelined despite enjoying strong support from grassroots BJP workers in Telangana.

Mr. Singh is outspoken and is considered to hold aggressive Hindutva ideology and never shied away from criticising his own party leaders for being moderate. He was expecting to be appointed as the State president and prove himself as the next Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, with his aggressive Hindutva ideology driving out ‘VIP culture’ from the State unit.

However, the local BJP leadership feels that Mr. Singh doesn’t have a pan Telangana appeal as he is not a Telugu but of North India origin. His appeal may not cross a few pockets has been an argument.
