Punjab put on high vigil after Pahalgam terror attack
The Chief Minister said that security has been beefed up in the state and strict vigil is being kept across Punjab to ensure that no one violates the law.
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduA day after the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir, Punjab has been put on high vigil to accord top priority to maintain law and order in the State.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, on Wednesday (April 23, 2025), after chairing a high-level meeting with officers of civil and police administration, said the State is on high vigil and is giving top priority to maintain law and order in Punjab.
He said that the incident has once again proved that the terrorists do not have any religion and their sole aim is to spread terror amongst the masses. The Chief Minister said that security has been beefed up in the state and strict vigil is being kept across Punjab to ensure that no one violates the law.
He said that the Punjab Police is fully capable of foiling any such attempt, and perfect coordination is being ensured between the Army, BSF and the Punjab Police.
He said that security at tourist places has been enhanced in Punjab, adding that Punjab has a border with Pakistan and Jammu & Kashmir, so the State is on high vigil and an eagle eye is being kept against anti-national forces. The Chief Minister said that the borders of the state have already been sealed and a red alert has been issued to the cops.
Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and workers held separate demonstrations against the terror attack in Chandigarh. Punjab BJP In-charge and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said the perpetrators will be taught such a lesson that their future generations will think a hundred times before casting an evil eye on India.
Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, termed the terror attack as a direct assault on the unity and integrity of the country. “Today, all of us, irrespective of our political affiliations and ideologies, stand together to defeat the dastardly designs of the enemy”, he said.
