Coimbatore Corporation councillor M. Krishnamoorthy of Congress found dead

The police said that Krishnamoorthy, a resident of Ondipudur, was found dead on the banks of river Noyyal at Pattanam

M. Krishnamoorthy of the Indian National Congress, who is the councillor of Ward 56 of the Coimbatore Corporation, was found dead on the banks of river Noyyal at Pattanam, near Sulur, late on Wednesday (November 27, 2024).

The police said that Krishnamoorthy, a resident of Ondipudur, was found dead on the riverbank around 9.30 p.m.

According to the police, as per preliminary findings, he got out of his car at the bridge and slipped after stepping on a food parcel cover. He fell from the bridge from a height of about 15 feet and died. The body was found around four feet off the water course of Noyyal, said the police, who shifted the body to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.

The police said that Krishnamoorthy is suspected to be under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place. He is believed to have stepped out of the car to attend nature’s call, said the police.

Further investigation is on to find out persons, who were present with him at the time of the suspected accidental fall, and other circumstances, they added.
