Woman gang-raped, three arrested
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduA 35-year-old woman, hailing from Delhi and working as a helper with an event management firm, was allegedly gang-raped by four youths working in the hospitality industry in the wee hours of Friday in Koramangala.
In her complaint, the victim said that she had been to meet one of her friends and around midnight, met four youths who claimed to know her friend. The accused allegedly took her to the terrace of a hotel which had shut down for the day and allegedly gang-raped her. The youths later allegedly snatched her mobile, wallet and chased her out of the building. The victim called the police control room, who rescued the woman and registered a case.
In a swift swoop down, Koramangala Police arrested three of the four accused now identified as Ajith, Vishwas, and Shiva, all hailing from West Bengal. Another accused allegedly from Uttarakhand is still at large and a manhunt is on.
Sarah Fathima, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East Division), Bengaluru City, said that the woman told the police that she had gone to meet a friend and met the four accused.
“The backgrounds of the accused and how the victim was trapped by them are under investigation. The accused all work as cooks and waiters in various hotels and not at the hotel where the victim was raped,” she said. She further said that the victim had undergone medical examination and her condition was stable.
