Congress stages protest in Erode for naming their leaders in National Herald case

by · The Hindu

Protesting the filing of what they called a false case against party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in connection with the National Herald case, members of the Erode Urban District Congress Committee staged a demonstration here on Friday.

The cadre said that the Enforcement Directorate had named their leaders in the chargesheet, alleging money laundering. They described the case as a clear instance of political vendetta by the BJP, claiming the Congress was being targeted for consistently speaking out against the Central government’s anti-people policies.

They asserted that the money laundering allegations were baseless and politically motivated, aimed at punishing Congress leaders for raising public concerns and holding the government accountable. The cadre accused the BJP of trying to divert attention from real issues faced by the people.

The protesters raised slogans condemning the case as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of their leaders. “The false case should be withdrawn,” they said, while also raising slogans against the BJP and its leaders.
