BRS agrees to participate in Stalin’s meeting in Chennai
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduThe Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) agreed to participate in the meeting called by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on the issues related to delimitation of the constituencies and the feared injustice to the Southern States.
The BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao told reporters that the party would participate in the meeting in Chennai on March 22. He was speaking after a delegation of the DMK met him at the party office and extended the invitation for participation. KTR said Southern States cannot be penalised for seriously implementing the population-control measures in the 1970s and 1980s. He said the solidarity of the Southern States now was paramount for justice. The BRS will participate to express its firm stance on the issue.
He feared that determining Parliamentary seats solely on population would severely impact the political voice of the Southern States. The DMK delegation included Tamil Nadu’s Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru, Rajya Sabha member N.R. Elango and others. DMK leaders said Tamil Nadu CM Stalin has been consistently raising the injustice posed by delimitation.
