She said it was unbecoming of an MP who also hails from a State led by a woman Chief Minister. He is habituated to speaking in a manner which is very offensive to women, she said.
“We have made our request to them [Speaker and Parliamentary Affairs Minister] to take harsh action so that he does not repeat this. They will sit and they will put their heads together and decide on what to do with him,” she added.
The Lok Sabha saw repeated adjournments as remarks by Mr. Banerjee against Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia created an uproar, which refused to die down despite an apology tendered by the Trinamool member. Mr Banerjee was speaking during a discussion on the amendments to the Disaster Management Act.
During a heated discussion, the Trinamool member made certain remarks against the Minister which were expunged by the Speaker.
Following the exchange between the Treasury and Opposition benches, the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day.
