Two terrorists, two soldiers killed in J&K’s Kulgam operation: Army

by Peerzada Ashiq · The HinduTwo terrorists and two soldiers, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), were killed during a day-long anti-militancy operation in the forest area of Kulgam in south Kashmir on Monday (September 8, 2025).
An Army spokesman said a joint operation of security forces was launched in Guddar forest of Kulgam in the morning following “specific intelligence input by the J&K Police”. During the anti-militancy operation, security forces came under fire from hiding militants, triggering a fierce gunfight.
“Vigilant troops observed suspicious activity, and upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire. Two terrorists were eliminated in the ongoing operation at Guddar forest of Kulgam,” the Army said.
The Army said a JCO and a soldier also “suffered injuries” and “were evacuated for requisite medical care”. However, the injured succumbed to their injuries.
A spokesman of the Army’s Chinar Corps identified the deceased as Subedar Perbhat Gaur and Lance Naik Narender Sindhu. “The Army honours the supreme sacrifice of the bravehearts in line of duty for the nation. Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. The Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stands in solidarity with the bereaved families,” the Army said.
Pakistani intruder arrested
Meanwhile, the Army said the identity of the slain terrorists were being ascertained. “The operation is in progress,” the Army said.
Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) arrested a Pakistani intruder in Jammu.
A BSF spokesman said the soldiers observed movement near the border around 9 p.m. on Sunday. “A Pakistani national was observed crossing the International Border and approaching aggressively towards the border fence in Tehsil Suchetgarh, Jammu. He was warned by alert troops but paid no heed. The BSF troops sensing threat fired at him,” the BSF said.
The intruder was taken into custody. “During questioning, he revealed his identity as Siraaj Khan, son of Zahid Khan, Village 27 Chak, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Sargodha, Punjab, Pakistan. During the search, Pakistani currency was recovered from him. He has been handed over to the police. A protest is being lodged with the counterpart,” the BSF said.
