Shivamogga

Workers of the Shivamogga district unit of BJP’s Yuva Morcha staged a protest against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, accused in the National Herald case, in Shivamogga on Friday.

The protesters assembled at Shivappa Nayaka Circle and burnt effigies of Ms. Sonia Gandhi and Mr. Rahul Gandhi and raised slogans against them. They alleged that the Congress leaders were involved in large-scale corruption, warranting the chargesheet by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Addressing the protesters, MLA for Shivamogga S.N. Channabasappa alleged that Congress leaders had been looting money for decades. The ED had filed a chargesheet against them, considering the misappropriation of funds in the National Herald case.

“They looted money for decades. Are they qualified to remain in the country? Mr. Rahul Gandhi questions the integrity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. What rights does he have to question the Prime Minister?” Mr. Chnnabasappa asked.

Referring to Congress workers’ protest over the issue, the BJP MLA said that if the workers were sincerely concerned about corruption, they should stage protests in front of the houses of their leaders.

BJP district secretary Harikrishna and other participated in the protest.
