National Herald case: BJP youth wing holds protest against Rahul Gandhi outside Cong. hqs. in Delhi
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduThe Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), on Friday, staged a demonstration against senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his alleged involvement in the National Herald-linked money laundering case. The BJPYM demanded Mr. Gandhi’s expulsion from the Congress.
The Enforcement Directorate had on April 9 filed a prosecution complaint against Congress leaders, including Mr. Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Sam Pitroda, in an alleged money laundering case related to Associated Journals Limited, which owns the National Herald newspaper. On Tuesday, a special Delhi court posted the matter for its consideration on April 25. A day later, members of the Opposition party held nationwide protests against the “state-sponsored crime masquerading as the rule of law”.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said, “This case dates back to 2012, during the Congress’s term at the Centre. The petitioners in the case are from the Congress itself. Their party leaders must realise that the BJP has no role in this case. Now, when investigating agencies are probing the case, why are Congress leaders—especially Rahul and Sonia Gandhi—feeling uncomfortable?”
