Coronation Street fans think they have worked out a pregnancy twist and who saves Carla Connor as the lives of the Underworld factory boss and the Swains continue.

There were heartbreaking scenes in the ITV soap earlier this week as Mason Radcliffe became the victim of a knife attack at the hands of his own brothers after preparing to leave the cobbles behind.

Fans had seen Mason help DS Lisa Swain with her continued enquiry into her late partner Becky's death as she believed his siblings, Matty and Logan, were responsible for her dying in the line of duty. After helping to get them arrested and questioned, Mason decided his time in Weatherfield was up.

But Matty and Logan attacked Mason and Dylan as Mason tried to retrieve some family photos from their flat to take with him to Germany after accepting a job offer from Stu Carpenter. While they weren't carrying a knife, a terrified Dylan Wilson tried to protect his pal, only for his decision to end in Mason's horrifying death.

Amidst Mason's death, Corrie fans were quick to predict that his heartbroken girlfriend Betsy Swain will be pregnant with his child. @bredrew2 said: "If I didn't know any better, it's going to turn out that Betsy's pregnant with Mason's kid. #Corrie." @rjc99999 asked: "#Corrie is Betsy going to be pregnant?"

@spidey_king22 posted: "#corrie there is always a twist but I reckon betsy will be pregnant by February with mason baby@gretasrobbins added: "Calling it now- betsy is pregnant. mason’s cute dinner date would have been enough to establish that they’re a sweet teenage couple. lisa caught them but no real aftermath of that with lisa & betsy? but corrie made a point to show that they were sleeping together so #corrie."

Meanwhile, some think Mason could end up saving Carla who is currently in hospital. The year got off to a worrying start for Carla as she was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with sepsis. Doctors later confirmed that the infection has badly damaged her kidney, and it's set to be confirmed she'll need a transplant.

Carla's family members begin to wonder whether they might be able to donate a kidney to her but amidst their worry, Carla's nephew Bobby Crawford secretly goes to see his jailed dad Rob Donovan, Carla's brother, to tell him about the situation in the hope he could be the one to help his sister.

But as mentioned, some Corrie fans think it could be Maosn's kidney that Carla receives. @Ralph_Hapschatt commented: "Betsy is pregnant.
