Explosions have been reported in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with missiles also targeting a US naval base in Bahrain among other targets across the region.

The Foreign Office said in a statement: “Due to reported missile attacks, British nationals in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE should immediately shelter in place. They should remain indoors in a secure location, avoid all travel and follow instructions from the local authorities.”

NBC news are reporting that Iran is retaliating against "multiple US military facilities in the middle east" citing a US official.

  • There are reports that a strike in Bahrain has targeted the US Fifth Fleet Naval Command.
  • Explosions heard in the Qatari capital Doha. Qatar has reportedly also intercepted two Iranian missiles over the country.
  • Explosions were reported in the skies over Jordan
  • Blasts have been heard in Abu Dhabi, capital of the UAE with a death reported after debris fell on a residential area.
  • Strikes have also been reported in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
  • People were seen running in the streets of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates as explosions rang out.

The UAE defence ministry said in a post on X a civilian had been killed in a "blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles" after missile debris fell in a residential area killing a person "of Asian nationality." They have not identified the victim.

A statement posted by the semi-official Tasnim news agency on Telegram says that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has announced it is launching a counterattack following US and Israeli strikes.

"In an answer to the hostile and criminal enemy assault to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the first broad wave of missile and drone attacks of the Islamic Republic of Iran toward the occupied land has begun," the statement said.

In a statement on social media this morning Donald Trump said the strikes on Iran, dubbed Operation Epic Fury, will “obliterate” Iranian forces.

He called Iran the “world's number one state sponsor of terror” listing historic occasions when he said the state participated in actions against the US.

“This regime can never have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said in the statement. He said that Iran had “taken every opportunity to resume their nuclear ambitions” and added that the Iranian leadership “just wanted to practice evil”.

He said the US military was undertaking a “massive and on-going operation to prevent this very wicked, radical dictatorship from threatening America and our core national security interests.”

He said the US would “obliterate” Iran’s navy and "annihilate" the country’s missile program and ensure that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon.
