Russian General assassinated in Moscow bomb blast 'as IED hidden in parked car'

Ministry General Yaroslav Moskalik has been killed in a Moscow bomb blast after a car explosion at around 10.40am local time, according to local reports

A Russian General has been assassinated in a horrific Moscow bomb blast - after the explosives were reportedly hidden in a parked car. The deputy head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Yaroslav Moskalik, has been killed following the explosion at around 10.40am local time.

He was passing a parked Volkswagen Golf when the the explosives went off and threw him "several meters", local reports said. He was one of Vladimir Putin's key officials.
