Married mum-of-three 'abducted and gang raped in moving van' for hours
Police say the woman was lured into the back of a van where she was repeatedly raped for two-and-half hours before being thrown out onto the road
by Joe Smith · The MirrorA mum of three was subjected to a horrific hours-long gang rape in the back of a moving van before she was thrown onto the road, police in India have said.
The attack happened overnight on Monday and the early hours of Tuesday after the married mum-of-three was waiting for transport to take her home in Faridabad, near Delhi.
A van stopped and two young men lured the woman inside with a promise of dropping her home. Once inside the vehicle, she was allegedly raped repeatedly as the van was driven towards Gurgaon Road.
She was reportedly imprisoned in the van for around two-and-a-half hours with her attackers assaulting her and making threats when she tried to resist.
She was eventually thrown from the moving vehicle, suffering severe facial injuries, and was left bleeding at the roadside near Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar.
The victim was left trying to call her sister in a bid to get help. When her sibling returned the call and discovered what had happened, horrified family members rushed to the scene and took the woman to hospital, where she was admitted in a critical condition.
Doctors at the hospital had to put stitches into the woman’s face. Her condition is now described as stable but she has not yet been able to make a formal statement as she remains in a state of shock.
The victim’s sister told police the woman had called her the evening before the attack, at around 8.30pm, saying she had argued with her mother and was going to stay at a friend’s house.
She reportedly told her sister that she would be home again within three hours. The woman, who has three children, is married but lives separately from her husband following a domestic dispute.
Police confirmed both suspects have been arrested and that the van used in the attack has been recovered. An investigation is ongoing.
