An Air Canada Flight 8646 was involved in an incident at LaGuardia Airport on Sunday night, according to initial reports.

Authorities say the aircraft, carrying more than 100 passengers from Montreal-Trudeau International Airport, struck a fire truck while taxiing after landing.

The plane involved in the accident was Jazz Airlines Flight 646 (JZA646), operated by Air Canada’s regional carrier Jazz Airlines. It flew from Montreal, Quebec, and had just landed in New York when it collided with a Port Authority emergency vehicle.

The pilot and co-pilot died in the collision.

Thirty-nine people on the plane and two fire officers were taken to hospitals. Officials did not immediately provide details on their conditions.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation, and authorities have not released further details.

La Guardia Airport is currently closed following the incident, and all incoming flights are being diverted or turned back.

LaGuardia will remain closed until at least 2 p.m. Monday to allow for a thorough investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board is on site, and Port Authority police are working with airline partners and federal authorities.
