KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 4): Police have reclassified the death of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin, who was found dead at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur last month, as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Kuala Lumpur police chief CP Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed the reclassification in a statement today, saying the case, which was initially investigated as a sudden death (SDR), had been upgraded following further investigations that were still ongoing.

Although the police statement did not identify the victim by name, the case is believed to be linked to Hsieh, who was known online as Iris Hsieh or “Nurse Goddess”.

Her death drew widespread attention after reports emerged that she had been working on a video project with Malaysian rapper Namewee before she was found dead.

Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, was arrested at the same hotel and later charged with drug possession and use.

Police said nine pills suspected to be ecstasy were seized during his arrest.

Fadil previously said Wee also tested positive for several controlled substances, including amphetamines, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC.

Wee has pleaded not guilty to both charges and was released on bail, with the drug case fixed for mention on Dec 18.
