A political storm has erupted in Maharashtra as four corporators from Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) faction have mysteriously vanished from the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC). The disappearance has sparked allegations of poaching, cross-party defections, and fears that Uddhav's gamble in the civic elections may have backfired spectacularly.

What happened in Kalyan-Dombivli?

After the civic election results were announced in Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde's faction had sent its corporators to hotels to prevent poaching, a move that drew widespread criticism. Now, the tables appear to have turned in Kalyan, with political discussions heating up once again.

Four corporators from Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) have gone missing from the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation. Following their disappearance, the Shiv Sena (UBT) faction has filed a formal complaint with police. There are also claims that these missing corporators may join the Shinde faction.

Could this give Shinde faction majority?

If the corporators who are currently missing decide to switch sides and officially join forces with Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction, their support could help push Shinde's group right over the edge to secure a clear majority in the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), delivering a major blow to Uddhav Thackeray, who is reeling from defeat.

Who are the missing corporators?

According to reports, two corporators are in touch with Shinde's Shiv Sena leadership, while the whereabouts of the other two remain unknown. Due to local political equations, the latter two corporators, who contested elections on the Shiv Sena (UBT) symbol, may return to the MNS.

The four corporators are: Madhur Mhatre, Kirti Dhone, Rahul Kot, and Swapnil Kene.

Police complaint filed

Local Shiv Sena (UBT) leader has filed a complaint at Kolsewadi Police Station regarding the missing corporators.

What did Sanjay Raut say?

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut accused Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of horse-trading on Saturday, alleging that "a market of money is running in politics" with open buying and selling of leaders. He further claimed Shinde is acting like a feudal lord who believes he can buy loyalty.

What happens next?

With four corporators missing and potentially switching sides, the political balance in the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation hangs in the balance. If they formally join the Shinde faction, it would mark yet another setback for Uddhav Thackeray, who is already reeling from the BMC defeat.
