Mehbooba Mufti backs Kashmir shutdown after killing of Ayatollah Khamenei, criticizes US and Israel

Regarding India-Israel relations, Mehbooba Mufti stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel was “not a good sign for Gandhi’s India.”
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the chief cleric, announced a one-day complete shutdown in solidarity with the people of Iran. The call has been backed by several prominent leaders of the Valley, including Mehbooba Mufti.
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti criticized America and Israel for attacking Iran and killing Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with several other top leaders. She described the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by Israel and the USA as a “deeply tragic and shameful point in history.”
She also criticized Muslim nations for their “explicit and implicit support,” accusing them of choosing convenience over conscience. According to her, “history will stand testament to who fought for justice and who helped the oppressors.”
Mufti expressed solidarity with the people of Iran and prayed for their strength against what she termed “forces of tyranny and injustice.” She also voiced support for the strike call given in the Kashmir Valley.
The one-day strike call for tomorrow was issued by the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU), a conglomerate of religious organizations headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, to protest the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by US-Israeli forces.
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti extended her full support to the strike call, describing it as a necessary mark of solidarity with the people of Iran.
In response to the situation, the J&K government has ordered all schools and colleges to remain closed for two days, Monday, 2 March, and Tuesday, 3 March, as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, to maintain vigilance on the ground, mobile internet services have been curtailed in Srinagar.
