Gurugram Air Pollution: Gurugram witnessed a sharp deterioration in air quality on Monday morning, forcing authorities to issue a work-from-home advisory for private offices. The city recorded an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 325, which falls under the “very poor” category, according to data from the Sameer app developed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Delhi’s AQI was recorded at 366, also categorised as very poor.

In response to the worsening pollution levels, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) invoked Stage-IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) through an order dated December 13, 2025. Stage-IV includes strict measures aimed at reducing emissions and limiting public exposure to hazardous air.

WFH For Private Offices

Following the implementation of Stage-IV GRAP, Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar urged all private institutions and corporate offices in the district to encourage employees to work from home until further orders. The advisory will come into effect from December 22, 2025, and will remain in force until air quality improves.

Authorities said reducing the number of people commuting daily will help lower vehicular emissions and support pollution-control efforts.

Revised Office Timings

The administration has also announced revised working hours for government and civic bodies during Stage-IV GRAP. State government offices will function from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Offices of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and Manesar will operate between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Similar timings will apply to municipal councils in Sohna and Pataudi Mandi, as well as the municipal committee in Farrukhnagar.

As per directions, the state government may allow offices to function with 50% staff strength, with the remaining employees working remotely.

Delhi Continues to Reel Under Smog

Meanwhile, Delhi remained engulfed in dense smog on Monday morning, raising serious health concerns. The worst air quality was reported from the Narela monitoring station, which recorded an AQI of 418, slipping into the “severe” category. Authorities have urged residents to limit outdoor activities as pollution levels are high.
