Man Arrested for Aggressive Behaviour & Causing Disturbance at KLIA Allegedly Dies Suddenly in Custody
by Didi · WORLD OF BUZZA male foreigner in his 30s was arrested by police from the Main Terminal Building (MTB) Police Station, KLIA Police Headquarters, Selangor Contingent, on November 23 at 1:30 PM.
He was taken into custody because of his behaviour and for being linked to a case under Section 427, Section 323, and Section 186 of the Penal Code.
He passed out during the process of his documentation
According to a statement from Selangor Police, the man was travelling from the United Kingdom to Thailand, and during his transit at KLIA, he caused a scene and acted aggressively.
Even after he was arrested, he kept acting aggressively, even damaging property at the police station and injuring two police officers and one auxiliary officer.
While they were processing his documentation, he passed out. The police called for help from the KLIA Medical Department, and the doctors gave him initial treatment, but he was later pronounced dead.
The cause of death is still unknown
An autopsy was conducted at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital, Serdang, on November 24, 2024. However, the cause of death remains undetermined, pending results from a laboratory investigation.
As of now, the case is classified as sudden death, and further investigations are being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Unit and Death in Custody Unit (USJKT) under the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) Bukit Aman. Investigations are being carried out from various angles before submitting the findings to the coroner.
The case has also been referred to the Independent Commission on Police Conduct (IPCC) in accordance with Section 26 of the Independent Commission on Police Conduct Act 2022 (Act 839).
