“I forgive him” – Father of 8yo Girl Fatally Struck Near Johor School Urges Public Not to Blame Van Driver
by Didi · WORLD OF BUZZAn 8-year-old student was fatally struck in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seri Maimon in Parit Sulong, Batu Pahat, Johor, yesterday (5 May) while walking near the school’s main gate.
As previously reported, the incident is believed to have happened when a van was exiting the school’s main gate after completing a delivery within the compound, before hitting the victim. The victim, Nur Aini Umairah Mohd Fareez, suffered severe head and internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s father urged the public not to blame the driver
Following the incident, the father of the victim has urged the public not to blame the driver, describing the incident as “unforeseen”.
According to Sinar Harian, Ahmad Fareez said he and his family have accepted the tragedy with an open heart and do not hold the van driver responsible.
“To the uncle who hit my child, I have already forgiven him. Whatever has happened is already destined. We can’t blame anyone… who would want this to happen?
“My request is, please don’t be angry with that uncle. If we as parents have already come to terms with it, there is no need for others to keep blaming him. Please have sympathy for him,” he added.
Recalling fond memories, he described his daughter as someone who was cheerful and loved makeup, even mimicking looks she saw on YouTube.
“The last time she put makeup on me was when we took her out to Melaka last week. That will be our final memory of her,” he said.
“I couldn’t bear to look at her because of how severe it was”
Meanwhile, Nur Aini’s mother recalled the tragedy and said it happened just minutes before she arrived to pick up her daughter. She added that she had always reminded her child to wait inside the school gate after classes ended.
“I was only a few minutes late to pick up my daughter before I saw her lying unconscious. I saw a crowd and heard students mentioning the name ‘Aini’. I immediately asked the teacher before being told it was my child involved. My body went weak, and I couldn’t bear to look at her because of how severe it was.
“Normally, she would only come out once I arrived. But that day, I’m not sure why she was outside the gate, maybe she went to buy something,” she added.
