Charities call for Gaza food distribution system to close

Some of the world's biggest charities and aid agencies have issued a joint call for the Israeli and US backed food distribution system in Gaza to be closed immediately.

Hundreds of Palestinians have been shot dead while trying to access aid since the foundation took over from the UN over a month ago.

Oxfam has accused the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation of violating international norms

130 organisations including Oxfam, Save The Children and Amnesty International have accused the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation of violating all international norms.

Gaza's civil defence agency said Israeli forces killed at least 48 people yesterday, including 21 at a seafront rest area, as fresh calls grew for a ceasefire in the Palestinian territory.

22 people were also killed near aid points in the centre and south of the Palestinian territory.

In total, at least 67 people were killed during Israel's military offensive yesterday.

In a statement the Israeli military said they are reorganising the aid centres including installing fences and signs.
