Man charged after garda injured in Dublin city centre

A man has been charged after a garda was injured during a public order incident in Dublin.

The garda received injuries to his arm during the incident that happened on Abbey Street at around 1pm.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital for what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.

A man, in his 20s, appeared before Dublin District Court this afternoon.

He was remanded in custody to appear again before Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday.

Garda welfare services will be put in place for the garda member, An Garda Síochána said in a statement.

Investigations are ongoing, the garda statement added.
