New Delhi, Oct 17: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday emphasized that the real progress of India depends on the inclusive development of all communities, particularly tribal populations. Speaking at the National Conclave on the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan in New Delhi, she highlighted the government’s wide-ranging efforts to uplift tribal communities through access to education, healthcare, employment, and governance.
Presenting awards to top-performing states, districts, and Integrated Tribal Development Agencies, President Murmu said the conclave reflects India’s commitment to participatory and inclusive governance.
“The Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan was launched with the vision of transforming every tribal village into a self-reliant and proud community,” she said. The campaign aims to ensure that the benefits of development reach tribal regions, enabling them to actively participate in the nation's growth.
Murmu underlined the importance of the Tribal Action Framework, expressing confidence in its role in empowering tribal people and improving national outcomes. She stressed that real change comes when Gram Sabhas and local institutions are empowered, and when tribal communities are given a meaningful voice in policymaking.
Reflecting on tribal traditions, the President noted that they offer valuable lessons in living in harmony with nature, an ethos essential for sustainable development.
She also praised the government’s initiatives, such as the rapid expansion of infrastructure, the establishment of residential schools, scholarship schemes, and programmes promoting technical skills, self-employment, and entrepreneurship in tribal regions.
“These initiatives have not only opened up livelihood opportunities but also boosted the self-confidence and independence of tribal communities,” she said.
President Murmu concluded her address by reiterating that India’s progress must be inclusive. “We must build a society where every citizen has the power and opportunity to shape their own future.”
