Bengaluru, Feb 21: A woman was allegedly gang-raped by four youths known to her on the terrace of a private hotel near Jyothi Nivas College under Koramangala police station limits. The incident came to light on Friday after the victim filed a complaint.
According to police sources, the woman approached the police in the early hours of Friday, following which a case was registered. The police have launched a search for the accused.
The victim has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment. Officials have visited the crime scene, collected evidence, and obtained CCTV footage from surrounding buildings as part of the investigation. Further details are awaited.
This incident follows a similar case reported last month in Bengaluru’s K R Market, where a woman waiting for a bus was gang-raped and robbed of her jewellery, cash, and mobile phone on January 21. She had lodged a complaint at the women’s police station in the central division.
The police have detained one suspect in connection with the K R Market case and are questioning him. Investigations revealed that the accused, posing as good samaritans, misled the victim by claiming to help her find a bus to Yelahanka before committing the crime.
In another case reported on April 25, 2024, a 23-year-old woman was kidnapped by five persons and gang-raped in an isolated location. The victim also endured brutal torture. Following a complaint by her family, the High Grounds police arrested the accused.
