Liam Payne was acting "erratically" in the run-up to his tragic death. Payne, a former member of the boyband One Direction, has died aged 31 after falling from a third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, police have confirmed.

The singer died on Wednesday at 5pm local time. Liam had been acting 'erratically' in the hours before his death, hotel workers have said. The hotel workers reported "an aggressive man who may have been under the effects of drugs and alcohol" in the run-up to his death 9pm UK time.

According to local media reports, Liam had been seen "acting erratically in the hotel lobby and smashed his laptop' before he 'had to be carried back to his room". Shortly after the call, workers said they heard a loud sound in the courtyard. Liams' body was discovered shortly after 5pm.

Audio related to the case obtained from the Buenos Aires security ministry heard a call from a worker that was requesting help with an intoxicated guest. The worker said: "When he is conscious he is destroying the entire room and we need you to send someone".

Earlier this week Liam's ex Maya Henry called in the lawyers after accusing Liam of repeatedly messaging her, her friends, and her mum. Liam dated singer and ITV The X Factor judge Cheryl Cole with the pair having a child named Bear in 2017.

They split in 2018 before he was linked to supermodel Naomi Campbell in 2019. He had an on-off, three-year relationship with ex-fiancée Maya Henry which was said to have ended for good in May, 2022. According to reports, Payne died after falling from the third floor of the hotel into the courtyard.

A spokesperson for the medical service confirmed his death on Wednesday. “At 17.04 we were alerted to a person who was in an internal courtyard of the hotel,” said Alberto Crescenti. “A few minutes later [an] emergency team arrived and confirmed the death of this man who we later learned was from a musical group. He had injuries incompatible with life as a result of his fall. There was no way to do anything.”
