The controversy of U.S. Attorney Pam Bondi's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case is fueling some major infighting within the MAGA movement. Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino is threatening to resign if Bondi doesn't resign, but Trump is defending Bondi and urging his supporters to forget about Epstein.
In an July 16 rant on his Truth Social platform, Trump angrily attacked Republicans who are focusing on Epstein and accused them of being manipulated by "the lunatic left."
"The Radical Left Democrats have hit pay dirt, again!," Trump posted. "Just like with the FAKE and fully discredited Steele Dossier, the lying 51 'Intelligence' Agents, the Laptop from Hell, which the Dems swore had come from Russia (No, it came from Hunter Biden's bathroom!), and even the Russia, Russia, Russia Scam itself, a totally fake and made up story used in order to hide Crooked Hillary Clinton's big loss in the 2016 Presidential Election, these Scams and Hoaxes are all the Democrats are good at - It’s all they have - They are no good at governing, no good at policy, and no good at picking winning candidates."

Trump continued, "Also, unlike Republicans, they stick together like glue. Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this 'b------' hook, line, and sinker. They haven’t learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years."
Trump argued that Republicans who talking about Epstein a lot are letting him down.
The president wrote, "I have had more success in 6 months than perhaps any President in our Country’s history, and all these people want to talk about, with strong prodding by the Fake News and the success starved Dems, is the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax. Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don't even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore!"
Trump's Truth Social rant is generating a lot of discussion on X, formerly Twitter.

CNN's DJ Judd observed, "President Donald Trump takes to his Truth Social platform, lamenting 'my PAST supporters have bought into this 'bullshit,' hook, line, and sinker' into what he calls 'the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax,' calling them 'weaklings' and writing 'I don’t want their support anymore.'"
MAGA supporter Scott Cook posted, "Is he including DJT jr, his VP, the Director & Deputy Director of the FBI among those he no longer wants the support of? And about 60% of MAGA! Who is giving POTUS this BS advice... We do not trust our Gov't, and certainly not in this instance. This is not reassuring, it simply makes us think Trump himself has something to hide relative to Epstein... Not a good look!"
X user Pam Rasmussen wrote, "Trump will say and do anything to prevent the release of the Epstein files, including insult & demean his own base. His fear is building into a near-panic."
Another X user, Jina Nankowicz, tweeted, "He is going to learn what it feels like losing his non-boomer base…. Enjoy the midterms without our votes, you will be destroyed."
