Modi Government’s 72-Hour Operation Redefines India’s Counter-Terror Doctrine

In a landmark operation that has reshaped the security dynamics of South Asia, the Indian government led by Prime Minister Modi has executed a response of unprecedented scale and precision against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

Headquarters of four major terrorist organisations — Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), and Hizbul Mujahideen — have been completely destroyed. A dozen most-wanted terrorists have been eliminated, and hundreds of foot soldiers wiped out in a decisive blow to the terror machinery operating across the border.

Old scores dating back to the Kandahar hijacking and previous attacks on Indian soil have finally been settled. The masterminds and perpetrators of terror have been eliminated. In a historic move, the Indus Waters Treaty is now a thing of the past.

Pakistan’s military establishment is in shambles. The Pakistani Army is in complete disarray, and the reputation of the Pakistani Air Force has been thoroughly tarnished. What has added to the humiliation is the glaring non-performance of Chinese-supplied air defense systems, radars, drones, and missiles. China, in the process, has faced global embarrassment.

For the first time, Indians have a guarantee that the nation’s air defense system is capable of protecting them. The battle was fought almost entirely on Pakistani soil, ensuring that the bulk of the damage was theirs. Military infrastructure across Pakistan has taken a massive hit.

China opening another front to help Pakistan? That remained a possibility only in academic discussions. The threat from Bangladesh and internal snakes turned out to be unfounded.

The Indian Army and Air Force gained invaluable real-time war experience, which will serve as a strategic advantage for the future. Eleven Pakistani Air Force bases were completely destroyed.

Meanwhile, homegrown and global anarchists, who had hoped for a “War of Attrition” to cripple India’s economy, now have egg on their face. In a mere 72 hours, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) was forced to plead for a ceasefire. India had brought Pakistan to its knees.

Never before has any Indian government like this Modi Government has delivered such a powerful, befitting, and 100% successful response to terror attacks on Indian soil. Whether it was 26/11 or other Pakistan-sponsored assaults on Indian cities, this level of courage and strategic clarity was never witnessed before.

From here on, a non-kinetic war will continue. ‘The Agyat Log’ will persist in their ‘Noble’ missions.

And that is precisely why I am proud of the Modi government!

But it also raises a significant question for reflection: Can someone kindly enlighten me about the response of the Indian government between 2004 and 2014, when scores of Indians were killed across the nation in various Pakistan-sponsored terror attacks?
